IMPORTANT LEGAL INFORMATION
If you are creating a website for your business or organization, there are a few legal pages you should seriously consider including, such as:

• Privacy Policy
• Terms and Conditions
• Cookie Policy

The information within these pages should be tailored specifically to your own business and based on how you collect and process user data. The main purpose of these pages is to ensure you aren’t mishandling your user’s information and are 100% transparent about the kind of technology your website uses that may be interacting with your visitor’s computer and personal information.

Technically, you can find free legal policies online, but when it comes to website compliance, you really don't want to mess around and find yourself in an expensive lawsuit down the road because you want to save your self a buck or two in the short-term.

Instead, I highly recommend using a service like Termly,* for a low monthly fee, which can help you generate all the legal content for your site that is required to keep you in compliance with the "powers that be". You can even create a business-specific Privacy Policy* for free! You might also consider checking out the Contract Shop for purchasing legal policy content. PRIVACY POLICY
A privacy policy is required for your website if you collect ANY type of data from your website users, including cookies. Data collection could be happening through a contact form, blog comment or email newsletter opt-in form. Your Privacy Policy should explain how your website will collect, process, store, and share consumer data, also how you will protect that data. 

TERMS & CONDITIONS
While a terms & conditions page isn’t necessarily required for all businesses, depending on your type of business and the type of information you have on your website, it might be. Even if you aren't required to have one, it's still a good idea to have one for your website users. You can include information about your policies and any other disclaimers that your industry might require.

COOKIE POLICY
A cookie policy is required if your website uses cookies (and most websites do). If you plan to implement data analytics, social media tracking pixels, save user data for later retrieval, install plugins, or implement a shopping cart, these are all functions that may require the use of cookies. There are many other reasons a website will use cookies as well. You can scan your website to see the cookies it's using Termly's Cookie Scanner*.

COOKIE BANNER
You’ve probably seen those cookie banners before when you visit other websites. It’s the little pop up, usually at the bottom of the screen, that prompts you to click “allow” or “not allow”. If you click allow, it gives permission for the website to gather and store some of your personal information. If your website uses cookies, in addition to a Cookie policy, you should also have a cookie banner*.

USING THIS PAGE AS A TEMPLATE
You can use this legal page template to add your site's legal page content. Here are some tips:

• Rename this page to your desired page name ie. Privacy Policy (click the [...] 3 dots next to the page on the left sidebar > Rename). 
• Delete this box and insert an Embed code in its place. 
• Insert your legal policy content into the Embed code box and adjust the width to roughly 900 pixels wide or your desired width. (This will help you to retain the styles, formatting and links the code contains vs just copying and pasting the content into this text box.)
• Adjust the height of the Canvas to accommodate all of the text. Most policies are very, very long, so you can change the Canvas height by selecting the Canvas and entering in a height (try 10,000 or more on desktop and 30,000 or more on mobile, if needed), to trial and error, until the Canvas successfully displays all the text.
• If you need to add multiple legal pages, simply duplicate this page, rename the copied version to your desired name ie. Terms of Service and add your content again.
• You can add a link to your legal pages by adding text links to your Copyright textbox in the footer, menu pages listed in your Footer, or wherever else makes sense. Add a Click Action and assign the appropriate page to your links.
